  • After some parts...

    Hey fella's,

Its come time to do a brake rotor change. The front are wearing quite low and the back arn't too far off. Im looking to upgrade to slotted and/or crossdrilled rotors. Any idea where i'd be able to pick up a good set for a good price? Im also looking for a CAI. The original one i had had to many junctions and split. It was sucking in unfiltered air for a week or two. Ive got an 03 Bora 4motion sports. Any help?

    Cheers
    Nathan

If you're not doing track work or you're not desperately keen to have the crossdrilled look, just stick with slotted. You'll save money, and potentially hassle (cross-drilled rotors aren't as strong (if you remove material, you reduce strength), and they are occasionally known to crack (and I don't just mean surface crazing either).
    Nothing to see here...

Yeah id be happy with slotted. I think they look a little better anyway. Crossdrilled look a little rice style in my opinion. So anyone got a a place to purchase for us?

Also anyone got a part number handy for these discs? I think they're different from the US spec jetta slightly.

I would stay away from anything slotted or Cross-drilled unless it has something with a big B on it

Slotted is all you need. Cross drilled is only really meant to allow gases from the pads escape- once your pads heat, they expel a gas, which would delay your braking by bout .3 of a second.
Slotted and cross drilled lets this gas escape, so more responsive braking - at high speeds, .3 of a second is significant.
Slotted and drilled looks cool, but even DBA spokespeople only recommend the slotted. Drilled is mainly for looks.

X2...You don't need to look at Cross Drilled Rotors...they have a nasty habit of cracking too...DBA Slotted are great for every day driving, and forays onto the track too.
