New Family Member

So, Picked up our new family member to tide me over until the Skoda (aka Unicorn) arrives and to serve as family project car.




In pretty good nick. Leather interior which is in great condition. Mechanically looks and feels good.
A couple of issues now that I have properly checked it out.
No front skirt/valance ! (Great inspection )



And the drivers door sensor doesn't work (Nearly locked the keys in when it auto locked !)
On the positive side all the door locks work, alarm/immobiliser, power windows, Aircon are all good.

Just need to find a front skirt and sort out the Door sensor (IIRC its not that easy) Then on to the mods !

Yep. Thats the case. Microswitch not picking up door is open. All the other functions work no probs.
Just been reading through various threads / HowTo's / FAQ's. Seems a common problem, but not as bad as it could be

the door locking itself should be easy to fix. Just some solder if you are lucky!

Thanks Blackers. I think it's a good pickup. Stock as a rock ! Once I get it properly checked out I/We (my sons and I ) can prioritise/attack the "tasteful" mods for handling and a small performance boost.

Same colour and model as mine.
Front skirt fell off mine too. Haven't bothered replacing as I found it used to hook up on gutters when parking front on as it sits fairly low.

Figured that was the case. There were no signs of front hits on any of the subframe or bar support.

On a side note how is the Revo tune ?

I highly recommend a Custom Code tune. even stage 1 if you don't want to do any exhaust mods (3" down pipe needed for stage 2) really wakes up the mk4 and makes it feel sporty and pushes you into the seat instead of a wafting along

Stage 1 tune is in the plan.
Will have a P plater driving it soon so need to be careful on the mods (Need exemption from Vicroads but it needs to be "stock")
Once I have confidence mechanically and with suspension/handling components it will happen quickly after that.
Custom code seem to be the favourites with the Mk4. Gavin seems helpful and is active here. He will receive contact from me shortly !
