  • The dilema.......

Do I buy a BMC CDA for $360, or do I buy a K&N drop in filter and some flexible tubing to direct cold air to the stock box for $120.

Is the BMC CDA really worth 3 times the money???

    Car is a Bora 4motion

Go for the BMC, its worth it. I have a Neuspeed CAI in my car, take a look at that too, might be a bit cheaper

I'd go for the same amount of money a AEM intake or carbonio alot better and looks alot cleaner IMO.

Thanks for the replies guys. Of course, the heart wants to go with the BMC, but it is $250 more, and its hard to convince myself that the money wouldn't be spend elsewhere (towards a RSB for example).

            Has anyone experienced both methods???

If your after a nice clean look and are prepared to spend $340 on a BMC, for about $40 more you might also consider the EVOMS V-Flow. Looks and performance in a very well made/researched intake.

I have had a look at a lot of the Vortex forums and I can see a lot of mixed reviews with CAI.

Personally, I plan to do a lot with my car so I feel that VW would have tested the car in the hot and cold and the box designed for the car would have been thought about.

Though a CAI is semi-appealing, I would go with RSB everytime !

I have done both, and I too also went the neuspeed path. I love it to death. The noise it makes puts a smile on my dial every time I drive it.

I also did the airbox with the ducting prior to the neuspeed and you can't begin to compare the differences between the two. Airbox mod is zzzzzzzzzzz.

That's for a Turbo and I think I have read they respond better to induction and any other modification you can do to engine.

                      Bmc DAI

If you don't want to stretch to a BMC CDA - there is always their DAI model - which is least $100 less. I'm happy with the BMC DAI so far. Definitely better <3000RPM and not too loud either. I've just done a reset on my ECU [Tuesday] it seems now to get even better economy. MRJZ who I bought it from put up some pictures of it when it was for sale and he reckons the carbon fibre doesn't provide huge advantages over the nylon particularly in a NA car.
http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=13783 - Anyway, another alternative! Although CDA is great if you have the cash!

i've had CAI (down in front of the guard) as well as something similar to the pic posted by No457 Snowy, the box is back in. after running the 1st two for about 3yrs i got sick of the induction noise, louder DV, i thought it felt more responsive, but who knows, it could just be the noise that makes you think that. anyway, i got used to both and after installing the airbox back in, i was like . wtf! low down torque was much better, the car moved of the line with less effort
