  • To go decat on a 1.8t agu or not?

Hey guys so looking at a 3" down pipe for my golf and wondered the pros and cons of having a decat?

Seen alot of stuff from the UK saying they have gone decat but obviously its illegal. Any advice guys?

    Highly illegal for little benefit.
    Don't risk it.

Just get a 100 cell like I did, almost the same as decat might throw an error though

Not monitored in the ME3.8 so no codes to worry about. I'd fit one as the loss is negligable for the benefit of being legal.

Get a nice metalcat. Much cheaper than the 10k fine. Also reduces the amount of black soot on your rear bumper

any exhaust shop can likely make you one, or go with a trusted brand like Miltek, 42 Draft Designs plus I am sure there are a couple of others but those are the big 2 that I see everywhere.

I am personally going to run with the 42dd kit as it is as quoted by the owner of 42dd yesterday for a full 3" turbo back system only $1050 landed in Australia

I had a 3inch downpipe fabricated and installed by a local exhaust shop for $550. It was stainless steel and mendrel bent with a high flow cat. It made a big difference to how the car drives. More noise in the cabin tho.
