Silicone Turbo Inlet Pipe - 1.8T

Hi all,

Tossing up the idea of a Silicone Turbo Inlet Pipe...

A couple of specific questions to the guys out there that have installed a Silicone TIP (of any make / Forge, Samco etc.) on a MK4 GTI...

- Does the engine cover go back on? i.e looks OEM or is there a bulge or do you have to cut a hole to make clearance?
- The Air Pump and DV have too change positions, have you had any problem with the OEM hoses not reaching / bending etc. (I think the DV looks ok, however the Air Pump appears to have to stretch a long way.
- Does the OEM vacum hose at the bottom near the turbo fit the plug, or do you have to get new vacum hose? The plug looks quite big (diameter)

I am aware that there is a DIY and I am more than thankful for that, however I just needed to ask these specific questions...

The actual fitting can be hard work but I reckon my butt dyno could tell the difference when I fitted a Forge TIP to my A3.

If you get the right one for your engine code there should be no fitment issues.

Correct there - I have the Forge TIP and I can still have my engine cover on it with clearance.

Can you tell me though, does the Air Pump and the DV change position?
(Is the DV still closest to the firewall or is the AIr Pump now closest to the firewall?)
And did you use the OEM hoses to connect them still and did they reach ok or are the stretched...

All the same, OEM hoses, placement shifts a little bit but nothing major.

I got a black one and used black electrical tape to cover up the logo - Looks 100% factory.

But as per the following thread, the DV and the Air Pump cleary change position. The DV (silver blow off valve) is normally closest to the firewall and the Air Pump is closer to the front.

But the OEM hose connecting the Air pump now appears to be stretched to reach futher, placing undue stress?

Am I on the right track or am I over reacting?

...however;

The plug on the far left (biggest) of the OEM part holds the DV.
The plug in the middle of the OEM part holds the Air Pimp.
The plug far right (smallest) of the OEM part hold the N75.

But on the Forge / Samco and others, the plugs are swaped around as per the above picture;

The plug on the far left (Forge) now hold the Air Pump.
The plug in the middle (biggest) (Forge) now hold the DV.
The plug far right (smallest) (Forge) still hold the N75.

My question is simply this, does the OEM hose from the engine to the Air Pump stretch enough to change positions with the DV?

(I still hope that makes sense...)
