  • Bora 4Motion ESP Warning light stuck on

    Hey all,

Just bought a 2001 Bora V6 4Motion and since I picked it up, the ESP/TC warning light has been stuck on. This didn't happen either time when we test drove the car and the previous owner tells me that its just started coming on in the last 3 weeks or so.

I have heard that people have had problems with the G-sensors but i think i need to get it plugged in to see what the problem is. Just went to VW Camberwell but they werent very helpful.

Was wondering if anyone in the melbourne area would be able to help me out, or direct me where to go so I can get this problem sorted for minimum stuffing around (and $$).

    Thnx heaps

Yeah it is one of the sensors. I know when the MAF sensor in mine played up the TC warning constantly came on.

Good question from the man previous - suspect brake pedal switch faulty, the fact that the light is on is good- vagcom will gove you a code for sure.

              VolksPower

              The brake lights are working.

Went to the good people at VolksPower today and they plugged it in and there were a few errors there so they cleared the slate and I'm going back tomorrow to see which errors are current.

One of them was the lateral accelleration sensor so I'm thinking it might be that but I will keep you all posted as to how it goes.

                Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200)

                So the results are in:
                -01423 Lateral Acceleration Sensor (G200)
                electrical fault.

I've heard that sometimes the plug can come loose and it just needs a little press in to fix it or that it may need a TB alignment.

Anyone had experience with this problem before?

No, but I have a fault with my left front Juddering to early. It only happens around sweepers when the weight gets over. Maybe thats my Lateral Acceleration sensor/ Did they say it was pricey ?

They didn't say yet. I'm hoping we won't need to replace it.
Have heard it being 150 pounds in europe though.

Update: Ive realised that the TC/ESP working is dependant on temperature.
It always works when I start the car on a cold morning or night. And has never worked on warmer days.

I'm thinking it could be be cabin temperature, because if I have the heater on, after a while (about 15 minutes) the ESP stops working.

Does anyone know have any idea as to what this might mean the problem could be? doesn't sound like wiring or connection problems to me but I'm no electronics expert.

                      Cheers

Have you been to a dealer to run VAG on the car? May just be a crap computer thing. I know I had an EBD error that was random, brakes didn't work as good under stress, and that was why. After the service, no problems... now I have VAGCOM

Your Lateral sensor is in the cabin funnily enough mate, have you had the scan done since it was erased mate??? Careful when handling the sensor its very delicate. If dropped it can stuff it too (new one i mean)

Yeah I had the scan redone. Came up as electrical fault in the lat. acc. sensor but Volkspower have been researching the problem for me and due to uni, I have been too busy to get back there.

Really hope im not gonna have to spring for a new sensor

tested my temperature theory today. started the car and the light stayed on. Ran the aircon to the feet on full for 15 mins. then when I restarted the car it worked.

That still doesnt fix the problem. Anyone know anything about these sensors and if they are temperature sensitive? Still kinda hoping its just a connection problem...
