  • Battery fuse box melting?

Hi there , yesterday I noticed that the 30amp fuse for my thermos was melted but not poped and the housing around it was melted a small amout too

I have searched and searched and found its a common thing but nothing really gives as straight forward answer as to why this happens

Rahter then just replacing the fuse and fuse box like im going to I would like to know why it has melted in the first place and how to stop it form haop3ning again ?

Any one had this happen before and know why it has happened ?

I have tested the hi / low speed on my thermos and that works fine so im thinking it might have something to do with the aux fan controller module ?

Any info or insight in to this would be great

    Thanks Aaron

Excessive heat is often caused by a loose connection, arcing occurs and things get hot.

Not uncommon mate. You could bypass it or buy a new fusebox.

Replace the fuse box on top of the battery.

It's stuffed and will only lead to more problems.

Its taken 10+ years to get like that. It won't do the same inside the next 5. As mentioned, dirty connections cause high resistance and heating. So make sure that the fuse and it's holder don't get oxidised. Some of that battery connection spray would probably do it. Or a good shot of WD40 once in a while, along with re-racking the fuse.

It'll affect the operation of the fans, yes.

I went through two in quick succession. Mine was caused by a shonky lead from the alternator.
