RedMK2GTi - check if you MPP are made in germany or china i think it was, one is good one is not.

Well in the NZ car club, pretty much 80% of the MK4 GTI and MK3 GTI all run T1R's, they work really well, wear not to bad and are silent.

Been around Pukekohe race track with my T1R's around a corner @140km/h, not screetch not signs of letting go. It was awesome. Highly recommend T1R's

No stamp or any mark to indicate where is it made. I asked the tyre shop guy he told me it's made in Japan. I think he lied.

What about the continental Sport Contact 2 ? Apparently it is a harder compound than the RE001...

I visited my local tyre dealer yesterday and received the following prices.

                    Continental Sport Compact 2 $350/tyre
                    Yokohama S.Drive $255
                    Bridgestone RE001 Adrenalin $255

His advice was to go with either the Yokohama or Bridgestone as the Continental is overpriced for the performance it offers.

I have decided to go with the Bridgestone as it is the newer design.

I will report back after they have been on the car for a few weeks.

Thanks very much for all of the advice.

OK I ended up buying the Bridgestones from Bob Jane as they have a special at the moment - $190 a corner.

Early days but so far so good. Noise isn't an issue and they have more grip than my old Precedas.

My bora came stock with the Oettinger 17's and the Michellin Pilot Sports tires. They were 225/45/17. They were an awsome tire n the wet and dry. Very grippy but only got about 40-45 thow off them and they cost around 450 a corner. Definately recommended though if you have the money to blow!

Hey matt, I am thinking about purchasing the RE001, got a quote of 189 a corner and going to up the size to 225/50R16 got anything more to add now that you have done a few more KM's, good, bad to say on them ? I believe the road noise and wear is a bit more than a standard but the performance is awesome ?

                              Hi mate
You've pretty much hit it on the head. They are slightly louder than the Precedas but, as my other car is a semi slick clad Datsun, I don't find the tyre rumble intrusive.

I have done a couple of thousand km's on them with no noticable wear other than some feathering on the shoulders from the odd spirited mountain drive.

Overall I have found them to be a superb tyre and for those who are after high levels of grip and a progressive break away I would highly recommend them. If more tyre rumble and a higher wear rate are concerns then it might be worth looking at the Continental Sport Contact 2 or Yokohama S Drive or even sticking with the Precedas.

Having said all that I am very happy with the Bridgestones.

                              Matt
