  • cruise control cuts out then car idles at 500rpm?

    hi guys,

while doing my clutch i stupidly forgot to unplug the vss before pulling the gearbox down. Anyway, not much damage was done. it just pulled the cap part of the sensor off on an angle, causing it to split the housing a bit. But it's nothing major and the sensor went back on fine.
my speedo, trip meter and fuel gauge all work perfectly fine.

My issue is when i initiate cruise control, it works for about 30 seconds - few minutes, then cuts out. After that i can't turn it back on. The car also idles at a steady 480-500rpm after this happens, but still drives perfectly fine.

if i turn the car off/on again it resets and i can use cruise control for another 30 or so seconds the it cuts out again.

Aslong as i don't use cruise control then there isn't an issue, but i use it quite a lot as you would expect haha.

    any help would be appreciated,

    thanks.

clutch pedal switch? When the switch fails it goes into the "PRESSED" position, meaning cruise is cut out. easy way to tell is to bridge the 2 pins on the switch with it disconnected and the cruise should work ( might rev up between gears) drive it like this to see if the cruise stays on all the time or not
