  • Mk4 wiper issues

So the story for a start. I dont use my wipers often as my windows are usually rainx'd up enough to work fine at 60km/h+

about 6months back I noticed my wipers were starting to get slower. no worries.
about a month or two back I noticed they were getting really slow (even on high speed) I first thought this might have been something to do with both my compressors running draining the life from the battery, but they continued to be slow even once the compressors turned off.
later that day they came to a complete stop for 1-2km of road til I hit a decent bump in the road and they seemed to work fine again (at normal speeds too I think)
Since then they have been a bit up and down, but tonight they stopped again and were really battling to get back to the starting point.

What are peoples thoughts, something electrical (relay) or the wiper motor has ended its life.
Happy to grab a second hand assembly from the wreckers but not sure if the motor/arms is the issues.
Any ideas on things I can check / do?
