  • r32 APR ECU upgrade issue

hey guys the r32 i own has a APR ecu upgrade in it and it has been tuned for three setups.
    (1) 95
    (2) 98
    (3) valet
it the manual i got with it it tells you how to change the modes. ' step 1 Press and hold the "set" button on your cruise control. After approximately five seconds, the "check engine" light on your dash will begin to blink once per second. This will tell you that you are activating program one. This blinking sequence will continue for approximately five seconds. After this five second interval, the "check engine" light will begin blinking twice per second. This will indicate that you have activated the second program. This process is continued to access any remaining programs you may have purchased. (three blinks = program three, four blinks = program four).
Step 2 Once you have activated the desired program, simply release the "set" button. The "check engine" light will stop flashing. Turn the ignition key off for 10 seconds, turn the key back on, and you will be locked in that program until you change it again.

i do this and the engine light does not come on at all. (any feed back would be swell guy cheers in advance)

    Yes that is correct mate.
So you put your key in and turn the ignition on?

Then turn the cruise control on?

Then you hold the set button and then the engine light will start flashing.

Is this what you do mate?

Are you getting the blinking sequence at all? if you are not - you probably have the ECU in "Security lockout" which prevents changing of programs. You have to enter your PIN number to unlock firstly.

If the battery has been disconnected (or run flat) then it defaults to locked.

How long ago did you get the upgrade?

Make sure the cruise control stalk is set in the off position before you do the sequence, see if that works Isaac.

You have to have the cruise already on and hold in the set button as you turn on the key

Keep holding the set button until you get the desired number of flashes of the engine symbol for the program you're after.
Then let it go, turn your key off for a few secs and that should be it

just tried that then and nothing no flashes of the engine light at all. is this APR ecu upgrade a full ecu or just a attachment thing ?

                    r32 APR ECU upgrade issue

Apr upgrade is a reflash of your stock ecu, it must be locked somehow, I would be taking it to your nearest apr dealer to sort it

Try unlocking or locking the ecu. I don't know what your code is I'm hoping you know it. They normally set it to something easy with low numbers.

You could try resetting the ecu by unhooking the battery over night.

There are two APR dealers down your way that will be able to sort it out for you.
