i've got a bag fault coming up.

for the time being does anyone know how this can be disabled?

can a vag-com do this? does anyone in sydney have one i can borrow?

I keep getting an airbag code from the airbag controller. Never had any lights so I just keep clearing it.

    Airbags are over rated anyways

Whats the fault?????? You will find making the wiring connectors tighter and then clearing the fault will do - loose connection - high resistance

i'm not sure exactly what the fault code is as I don't have a VAG-COM and I have to admit I've lost the print out I got when it was serviced.

Their is a warning which comes up on the dash, the airbag light is on and I get a series of loud beeps on start-up.

I wanted to see if I could come user somebody's VAG-COM, see what the problem is and see if it can be turned off or fixed.

I have a feeling that one of the bags in the car has been deplolyed at some stage.

This might be a dumb question, have you tried disconnecting the battery and clearing the code like that? This usually clears the airbag codes (on non VAG cars tho)

Check that the Plugs are all connected and havent vibrated loose

in my GTI the airbag light came on cos the sub vibrated loose the seat belt roller plug

check your seat belt roller plugs

            check your Seat airbag plugs

and get vagcome to chekc what the actuall fault is

if its the driver air bag its usually a faulty clock spring!

                ok

this is the concept of the 50cent tuneup

well under each seat there is a plug rig in the bottom of them..

usually they shouldnt vibrate loose but some times they do.. there is one under each front seat

now other airbag network plugs are dotted around here in there..

where your front seats have their individual seat belt rollers.. there is a plug in to each seat belt roller.. so that in the even of the crash the seat belt rollers lock tight and tighten up to stop your body flying forwards

but also behind there there should be another plug either side for the side intrusion sensors for the air bags.. all these plugs should be a yellow in colour..

make sure they are all connected properly

(dissconnect the battery while doing this.)

disconnect all of them and then reconnect them just to ensure they are connected properly..

if that doesnt seem to solve it..

get the vag come to check the codes... and proceed from there..

if you go to a stealership and on the off chance its a disconnected plug.. they have been known to feed you lies and charge you 600 odd dollars to repair a unit that has no need to be replaced (all they do is plug it in clear the code.. thrash your car and send you a bill..!!!!)

cheers mate ( bro ), i'll get onto the plugs tonight.

i agree with you're stealership comments hence i'm trying all DIY fixes first.

it depends who you know and who you trust..

that always has a bearing when i take the car to a dealer

i only go where i can trust them with my car...

generally because i know the service teams etc..
