Am I being stupid ?

Alrighty, 1700 Kms into our road trip everything working well engine is sounding good gearbox is performing well. Can be a little noises in first start up with cold oil, but that quickly passes.

Ok so was raining today heavy, we drive through it and stopped about an hour later. I notices a serious amount of water dropping from below the car far back in the engine bay I don't have the plastic plate under the engine any more.
It's defo water no levels are down, ( tasted like water) I think soy d deadening material on the bulkhead was just draining its self?

Condensate drain from the air conditioner and its associated piping.

Basically, fluids used are all coloured. Condensate will be clear water.

Makes sense, but I didn't use the aircon at all, just had if on low econ mode, would this still cause condensation?

I'm not sure how far back this goes, but a lot of VWs will still run the a/c compressor at a much lower duty cycle, even though you've switched it 'off'. Idea being, that it's meant to prevent the compressor from seizing if it's left unused for long periods of time.

maybe go for a spin around the block, get it up to temp, and park someone where dry and see if it happens again?
if no fluids are down I wouldnt be stressing

Aye m8 just reading about this.. Could be the shout , just that it weird that its dumping liquid onto components under the car, rather than just straight onto the deck it's hard to make out.
It's dripping onto the metal cross member featured at the center of the pic. ( above the s shaped price of pipe)

Surely if somthing had been designed to vent. It would do so to an appropriate place?

In many cases, the condensate drain is a "flat tube". One end of the flattened tube is slipped around the drain pipe, and the other remains closed. When enough condensate collects in this, its weight causes the end to open and out it comes. As such, it could have been from the previous running.

The flat tube is used to prevent cooled air being continually blown out the drain. I should also say that not all drains have this type of drain.

I can also be because of the way the car was parked. Condensate might have collected elsewhere and drained out now.

My AC drains near the exhaust. I figure the design is to have some of it turn to steam from the heat down there.
As stated all the important fluids are coloured.
So clear would be condensation from AC
or you have water instead of coolant that would screw a few things up and you get a light and buzzer when that goes low.
