How do i clip roof racks on to my MKIV

hey guys...

i know how to fit the factory roof racks to a car thats 5 door.. it was easy on my gti

but how the hell do i wop them on to my 3door R32..

there only seems to be the rubber thing (seal) that folds forwards around the doors.. but past the door it turns in to a long hard rubber strip..
