Bora / Golf IV centre console

I've been looking at getting a new centre console
from these guys

Volkswagen Jetta IV VR6 24v Interior Center Console ES#308855 Rear Center Console - Black - 1J0863323AC2QL

on the website in mentions that you have to bend the handbrake lever by 10 degrees to get these later consoles to fit.

I was wondering if anyone's tried this before and if you have to take the lever off the car to bend it, or just give it a hard pull to one side.??

You just have to pull/push it towards the passenger seat - no removal is necessary.

Does anyone know where the fuel filler flap button goes on the later centre console? - were theses later ones ever fitted to Boras?

On UK MkIV's there was a post regarding this - there's a part number for the filler release mount - you can order it from VW or you can mod your existing centre console. I'll have a look for the link and post it here when I get home.

I ended up ordering the handbrake and console and cutting old centre console part out and smoothed edges to fit under coin holder. Works well and well hidden too

I've ordered one of these off EBay

seems to have everything there - just gotta save a few dollars for the front section next.

Just be aware if you order the front section (that surrounds your gear stick) that a US spec will slant the opposite way to an AUS spec one due to it being made for a LHD vehicle.
