  • Replacing Main & Bigend bolts

    Hi Guys
I am seeking assistance with the sequence for tightening replacement mains and big end bolts in 2lt turbo engine.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Regards

Is it a mk4? They came with the 1.8t not the 2.t. For the bigend(rod) bolts you don't need a sequence just the correct torque setting for the fasteners you're using. I did my main cap bolts in a similar order to the head bolts just start in the middle and go in a spiral pattern outwards

Hi mate, Thanks for the information. As you probably guessed I am new to working on Veedubs. Got mistaken when looking at engine cover and took too quick a look at the 2 not realizing it was 20v. How do they perform with the 1.8t? I have aquired this car to repair after it collided with a wombat and was then deemed a repairable write off, bought it back from Insurance and nearly ready to try and have it back on the road.
      Thanks for your help.

This. There is no sequence noted in any manual aside from a mentioned 3-2-4-1-5 recommendation.
