Car sounds bad

Hmm after washing the car tonight at the car wash I drive a short distance I the servo. Notices that the car was chugging along. When I stopped I noticed that the engine was running **** at idle. When pressing the gas the engine seemed to lag and was less responsive. Is could be wrong but it sounds a cylinder down.

Really really need car tomorrow.
Options please

I had bought vagcom cable from eBay. But thought the USB software is installed correctly, the vagcom program won't open

I was hoping to narrow it down quickly.

Did you pressure wash the engine bay ? If so you may of got some water down the spark plug hole if there not sealed well ?.

i pulled a spark plug tonight so i can get new ones tomorrow. (only had time to do one) + didnt want to remove any more plugs without using air duster or vacuum into plugs. (can see bits of crap down there)

Im thinking its one of two things..

either plugs or air flow sensor (may explain the sluggish engine with smell of fuel ? flooding engine)

Or coilpacks. Take a look at my thread and see if any symptoms sound similar in nature (thread is Jed's MKIV .:R32)

My car earlier this year had exactly the same problem, for me it was the spark plug leads one of them was just faulty causing it to run on 3 cylinders instead of 4. If you can i would test your spark plug leads and if they are a bit dodgy at least they aren't really expensive to replace.
