From vortex:
I have Schricks 268/264 Cams on my mkiv r32 with united motorsport flash and I have nothing but great things to say about both Cams and software! I'm still waiting on some dyno runs! These Cams offer fantastic power gains when paired with um software! No loss down low! These Cams get real lively over 4k! I can pull smooth power all the way to 7k..! Great choice! Solid! Gas will go tho if u have a heavy foot! I can't wait to go bigger injectors and um e85 na tune! That should be big win! Hoping for 250awhp with e85!
Guys, what about the Techtonics cams? Are they any good?
I was looking at them for my mk3 VR, seemed the goods from my research (held off on purchasing)
they were my 3rd option behind schrick and another company in regards to product. But techtonics were the cheapest and most available which put them on par with the other two companies as I wasn't keen to wait at the time.
Schricks are the number 1, the 268/264 sounds like the best set to go for to not lose low down torque and power. However you really need an intake, high-flow cats and a catback exhaust to realise the majority of potential of cams from what I've seen Make sure you let us all know what you do in the end! As I'm interested in this too

Schricks are more expensive due to a) their reputation and b) the cams are ground from billet blanks. The techtonics cams are regrinds of OEM cams.
The techtonics yield slightly less power (~4-10hp) than the schricks but I'm sure that is more than outweighed by the considerable difference in price.
Schrick 272/272 are a waste of time in an NA application. Some turbo folk are running 272/264 configurations but I havene't seen any NA example with that setup. The most tried is as listed above, 268/264
There is a guy also looking to trial a 280/272 combo which is looking promising.
Techtonics are solely a 264/260 configuration. Jig has a set of TT 264/260 cams for sale on vwgolf.net.au
Dblias also sell cams for the Mk4 R32 but I think they only run as aggressive as 266/262. They do regrinds and grinds from billet blanks, so you have the option with them how much you spend.
Eurospec Sport are another company that sell cams but there seems to be hit & miss information regarding the quality of their products, so perhaps be cautious on that.
I have recently fitted Shrick 272s to my MK5 R32. They have allowed the engine to breath a lot better than original in my case. I have had no noticable loss down low. My car already had a GIAC tune, cat back exhaust and GruppeM intake. The 200cel cats are patiently waiting to be fitted next week to finish off the exhaust. I seem to be using a bit less fuel driving the same way, so I am happy with that. I havent noticed any leanouts with the exhaust sensors displayed using the FIS+. If you are going to fit them yourself, allow two days and have all the parts from VW. The cam plate is not sold by VW as they will only sell tools to dealers for dealer use. I bought mine from a tool shop online from Sydney.
