  • Help with fault codes

My car has been idling higher than usual lately at random times. It will idle around 800 rpm when warm and uses around 1.0l/h - which is normal, but randomly will jump to around 1100 rpm and uses 1.5l/h when idling until I turn off the engine. When I restart the engine it will go back to normal until it jumps back up again. I plugged in vcds and it shows that when the car is idling normally, it will read 'idle'. But when the idle randomly jumps to around 1100 rpm whilst still idling, it reads 'part throttle'. I'm stumped for ideas.

    The codes I've pulled are:
00282 - Throttle Position Actuator (V60): Implausible Signal (Cleared but hasn't come back after I drove it around today)

This is a new one that just popped up

    01314 - Engine Control Module
    013 - Check DTC Memory - Intermittent

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks

Sometimes error codes are related to problems years ago, and when the problem was solved, the error code was not cleared. So if it doesn't come back I wouldn't be worried.

When was the last time you cleaned your throttle body?

    But according to rosstech:

    00282

      Thanks mate.

Cleaned the TB a couple of weeks ago. Removed it and cleaned it again today. Cleared codes.
Idled normally and shot up again. I think the '00282' code is related to the cruise control system - after the idle shot up, the cruise control wouldn't work. Think it might be a faulty clutch switch. Went for a couple of drives later on - Cruise control working, Idle normal. Weird..
