  • Help! New brakes on but have no pedal

    Hey all,

Put new pads and rotors and calipers on the front of my golf and now ive got no brakes at all. We bled the air out of all the calipers front and rear, twice.. anyone had this problem before??

sounds like you still have air in the lines... rebleed and pump the pedal...if you lost all the fluid you might need to bleed the ABS unit too...VDUB...

To fit the hardware you didn't need to bled per se, was it needing a fluid change anyway?? even with a pocket in the master as they normally do if not done right you should still have at least a 75% feeling pedal mate. Did you remove the master cyl res cap before you pushed the pistons back??

Re: Help! New brakes on but have no pedal

Well it was about 30-40% feel in the pedal. Didn't realize there were bleeders on the master Cylinder either. But I noticed that the seals between the fluid reservoir and the master Cylinder had lifted up so I have a spare from the front cut I have still. So shes up at the mechanics now just hope putting these gti brakes on is worth it lol

Did you have the cap on when you pushed the pistons back?? that's a major playing in stuffing the seals. Should always release it, not trying to preach only trying to help
              Cheers

                Thanks jmac,

No I left the cap on as tight as I could :/ I didn't know any different just went by how I used to bleed brakes on normal cars lol. I now know for next time. How hard is it to change the master Cylinder? The mechanic hasn't had time to look at it yet. Might go get it and do it at home if it isn't too hard

                  So brakes are fixed,

Turns out I was missing a clip from the passenger side caliper. As soon as we put it on the brakes worked great! Glad I changed the brakes to bigger ones. Made a huge difference
