mk4 gti passenger door help

So yesterday I unlocked the car as usual, with the remote, all doors unlocked apart from the passenger side door. The door will not even unlock by pulling on the interior handle or by pressing the interior unlock button on the driver’s door.

There is no noise coming from inside the door either which makes me think an actuator or something is dead?

When I do pull the interior door handle, the lock button pops up but drops when released. There is no key hole on the handle and I can’t see a way of getting the door card off until the door is open.

I’ve tried hitting the door hard near the handle, locking/unlocking inside and out with remote and manually, removing fuses etc but the doors still locked.

Any ideas?

needs a new lock mate.. used to be common and still are on mk5 .. not really a easy way in as there is a screw on the top right of the inner panel that when the doors shut you cant get too. keep trying messing with the handle and remote at same time.. usually comes open eventually...VDUB....

make sure the car is running.

have an offsider in the DS door unlock button and yourself just handle grabbing the pass side until you get lucky.

Be warned, have the parts ready, it might be the only time you get that door open before fixing it.

I eventually got the door open last night by unlocking and pulling handle at the same time repeatedly.

Now I can actually open it all up and have a closer look. Found a good article on vw vortex too showing how the lock mechanism works.

Get all the bits you need and have someone help open the door.
Pull both handles and push from the inside, repeat.
