pictures boy!! Good to see a bit of DIY on a mk 4! hhah Don't forget with them trims you can also clear coat them, to give a harder wearing finsih, or something like that (availiable in a can)


I'm interested to see these TT vents, as I have no idea what you're on about and I CANT WAIT TO SEE THOSE RIMS ON YOUR CAR ALREADY!!!!

I have done 4 coats of paint so far and I'm still not 100% happy with the finish. I might sand it back again and do 1 more coat and then start doing the clear coat.

Ive also started to remove the crappy coating over the plastic that surrounds the ash tray. Its looking much cleaner. All the lower grills came out also and a trip to the westinghouse dishwasher for a bit of a freshen up. They now look brand new again!

After coping heaps about having loads of things but none of wich are fittend to my car I got to work today to do somethings I had been putting off for ages.

First up - Replacement LED globes for number plates. There's no point in showing you pictures yet cause it's not dark yet! I also installed white LED's into the doors where the curtosey/puddle light is.

Secondly - I've also had rolling around in my box of toys aka my boot a guard that has been modified with a TT style vent. I ripped of my front wheel and set to work on that. Once I had the inner guard off I also noticed my dodgy work on the neuspeed SMIC intake pipe so I sorted that out. For those who have heard me complain about my car of late, it apears the small air leak is what may have been throwing the air/fuel code I was getting. A quick re-set of my codes should be the test of that. Then I guave the guard a quick clean and re-installed in inner guard. The idea of this is just to allow more air flow over the IC reducing intake temperatures.

Third item on the agenda for today was doing something about the wood grain. After I swallowed one of Jermy Clarksons courage pills, I ripped apart my dash and removed all of those nasty wood grain items. A quick trip to bunnings and some auto-mart shop and I grabbed myself some 400 grade wet and dry and also a can of primer and a can of acrylic silver and I got to work. I'm still painting as we speak but i should have some pics up tomorrow if all goes to plan.

Tomorrow I'm going to clean of that crappy stuff on some of the black plastic trims that seems to wear after time and hopefully she should look a million bucks again! Well - sort of...

remember lots of thing coats, , "dust-ings" even. then build up some layers, cut it back with a real high grit paper (over 1200) if you orange peel it a bit.

Neil also happenend to mentioned that he took a quick trip down to bunnings to pick up the paint. i think that's the clue you're looking for, supercheap/autobahn should have various rattle cans FS aswel..

The sand paper came from bunnings, the paint came from Repco I think. Its just normal acrylic

Just a teaser... Will show you all once fitted. I screwed one of them up so I'm in the process or paint then sand to get it back to good so it may take a while. Whilst I'm at it, I pulled my lower guards out - here is how to wash them if you are going for a show room finish...



They came out like new...
