They'd look good on a red car, or a white car. They have completely black ones on ebay as well which could be interesting, there were something like 125 posted I think. If your going for a tinted or black look they're the way to go...
I have seen them once on a Jazz blue car and IMO they looked ace. It wasn't overly obvious they were after market - just gave the booty a subtle highlight.

Er i think you'll find both the standard golf and R32 have projector headlights - The Golf just has Xenons as projectors.
I have a standard GTI and it does not have projectors, nor does any other MK4 Golf other than R32's. R32's have Xenons in Projector style headlight housings. Maybe things are different on Audis, bout not on the Golfs.
