  • Golf mk4

    Hi all,

My name is Roche, im new to all this but i want some knowledge on what to do with a mk4 golf 1.6. i want some power from it and want to know whats the best engine swap for it? i know that everyone will just say go buy a R32 or a GTI but i dont want to. So what can i do for power? and also interior mods on the car, and exterior ive got a few plans for the car, im also only 17 so i cant make illegal mods noticeable but i do want to leave fords holdens in my rear mirror.

    1.8t from a gti or a 2.8/3.2 from a 4mo/R32
not worth chasing power from 1.6l and 2.0l engines
    Bora gone
    Vento VR6
    MKIV GSW TDI
    7P Touareg TDI

Do you know where I can get an R32 engine from Melbourne? I've tried unique autos but they haven't came back with anything yet,

Yeah I know that's why I want to get rid of the 1.6l too slow

easiest would be a 1.8 turbo swap, so easy even I did it...

I know of a complete 2000 GTI going for 3k... all the bits you need.

Well I'm doing a trade for my golf mk1 for mk4 1.6 and spent quite a bit on the mk1 so haven't got 3k right now

cost me about 3.5k all up, but if you sourced all the bits separately you could probably do it cheaper. AGU engines can be had at pretty good prices, but you need engine/gearbox/shifter, driveshafts, intercooler, exhaust, airbox, wiring, ECU, suspension, brakes (rear brakes are the same) - as they are all different on the GTI

Did you do anything with your interior?

so far only LED interior lighting (bright!!), but i have black leather seats from a bora to go in, leather mk6 steering wheel (I'll delete all the buttons, too much effort in a mk4 to make them work) , and 7" satnav/dvd setup
