Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • After some part numbers

Was wondering if anyone knows the part number for both front drive shaft assemblies for the golf.
I have found 1J0407451JX and 1J0407452NX just need to confirm this before I order a new set.
    Cheers
    Steve

X usually means exchange through your Volkswagen dealer.

Best to ring them with your VIN to confirm.
    '07 Transporter 1.9 TDI
    '01 Beetle 2.0

also depends on engine size e.g. the 1.6 ones are smaller than the 1.8T and 2.0
My build thread here: 1.6 sr into 1.8T http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...-8t-63249.html

        Checking for you now Steve.

        Gavin

EDIT those numbers appear to be good up to build date of 31 july 1998, after that the numbers change.

        Emailed you some PDFs Steve

Seems like it lists 1J0407451DX and 1J0407452GX but it lists 100mm and 108mm so not sure there....
Might just have to pull them off and do some measuring.
