  • OEM brake pads gone green !

    Hi Ladies and Gents,

Was just having a look at the brakes at the front end, and on the drivers side, it's as though the brake pads (the material itself) are EBC Greenstuff (haha!).

The not so funny part is that they are actually OEM and the passenger side at the front is fine.

I was looking around to see whether there was a "sign" that the pads have been compromised and have been contaminated. I've had the rotors (cross drilled and spotted) machined, and I have had some issues with vibrations about a year ago.

Reckon my pads are shafted ?

Will be getting new rotors/pads/fluid all round, but I'm interested to know.

Did you drive through some chemicals or something? Are you sure your pads aren't disintegrating? Hmmn odd to say the least.

I work at a multinational chemical company... and my spot is near the warehouse...

I'm pretty sure it's had contact with various fine powder chemicals - but I wash my car often to compensate...

I don't think it's that though, otherwise all of them would have gone green !

Looks like cooper chloride to me... But I'm no industrial chemist. But thats what I would say it was ... Drove through some cleaner fluid? They use chlorine based products in alot of things.

Yeah thats my guess CuCl I think.
