Bora V6 2002 - Fuel gauge / fuel economy count issue

Hey all,

Just thought I would post up for your thoughts on an issue with the fuel gauge / fuel economy count on the dash.

The fuel gauge does not report the ACTUAL amount of petrol in the tank - i can tell this because of the trip count and the usual amount of k's i get per tank.

Also, when driving, the fuel economy (L/100Km) fluctuates from 0.00 L/10km to 15 L/100km every few seconds.

I can only put this down to two things:

1. Fuel sensor
2. Electronic issue (possibly resolved via VAGCOM)

If you have any input that would be great!!!

Take your foot off the gas going down hill and the display should drop to 0.0l/100km.

are you on the average fuel consumption ? or are you reading the instantanious consumption .. the average should be more like the accurate reading over the trip .. mine drops to zero when im in gear going downhill ..

ahh that would be it, silly me!
however, im still stuck on the issue of the gauge... it seems to have frozen on half a tank despite having done 400 km - it should be showing at the maximum 1/4 tank
any thoughts?

could be a sender maybe ? dont know if a scan will bring that up or not .. just on VW Vortex im sure theres been something similar going on ..
