  • Exhaust headers for 2.8 Bora

    Hey guys

Just wondering if anyone has put aftermarket exhaust headers on their 4mo 2.8?
Considering you can pick them up for $100-$200, it seems like a decent mod to go with a catback exhaust system?
+ maybe a high flow cat? (Dunno much about cats)

If anyone can provide some info on any pros/cons, experiences etc that'd be awesome!

    Thanks in advance,
    Mitch

$100-$200? think thats a bit ambitious...
general consensus from my research is that isnt much of a performance gain to be had
Current: '04 Astra SRI Turbo - EDS IPF Flash, 3" TBE, Quaife LSD
Previously: Bora 4mo, cams, coilovers, tune, exhaust, brembo's etc

Oh well it's probably more. I just threw some figures out from a quick google search lol
Price isn't much of a worry. Just wanna know if it's worth the effort of putting them in

It'd definitely be more. Don't forget the stuff from the U.S. is for a LHD FWD VR6 so wont fit.

Looking at R32 stuff, the 3.2 and 2.8 manifolds both bolt up, your looking at ~1k for a milltek one or ~450 for an e-bay one and then there's shipping on top of that.

If cost isn't really an option then go for it but its a lot of money and IMHO the stock one just looking at it seems pretty reasonable. Also its a prick to get out, the amount of space between the firewall and prop shaft is minimal at best, easiest way to get it out i found was to undo the engine mounts and on a engine crane move the engine a bit to give enough clearance!

Haha sorry if i'm being Mr Negative!

          Nah that's all good
I did have a look down in behind the engine today and definitely looks like a pain in the ass job to do. Id say if I ever do an engine swap (3.2l possibly) then ill look at headers then. Would be a whole look easier to do with the engine out of the car

          Thanks for that!
