  • car accelerating on its own??

so this problem started about a month ago. it usually happens just after i turn the car on. the car just starts revving up on its on. it revs up to about 2500-3000rpm and then back down to 1000rpm. thats not the scary part. sometimes when im driving it will just start revving up on its own aswell usually when i let go of the accelerator. when this happens it just wont stop revving just going up and up. tried changing gears from drive to neutral or park (automatic car) but that just seems to make it rev even faster without any indication of slowing down. only way to stop it is to turn the car off.
does anyone know how to stop this problem or any idea what it is?

What does the dealer say and what have you done to remedy the situation
What model and engine is it.

The more you tell us the better the answers.

Worn parts jamming for lack of lubrication or wear. Time for a visit to a doctor I think

both of these were my throughts.

I once had my cruise control staying on, just wanted to keep booting up to 100km/h (last set speed). is your cruise control switched off or just disabled (is the light on or off on the dash)

could be sucking in false air, TB sensor. cruise control (check if you have cruise control - indicator stalk), etc etc... read the codes (and weep) then open the wallet and remedy the issue before it becomes an accident causing problem.

My car used to do this to a smaller extent... I cleaned the throttle body and performed an alignment via vagcom... was all good afterwards.

I had quite a bit of crud build up in the TB that prevented airflow at close. So would rev up and down.
