Next, Bug_racer says im pretty much done with the what nexts ( I think my signature says a bit) , unless its big big $$$'s to do more things. Do I really need to go down that path? Not sure if im going to be doing a lot of track time. For now I'm hanging fo the next Vortex Dyno Day to give it a run in April, would like to see what increase in kws etc. I think with all thats been done to it its going to be worth it. Its smooth real smooth & now with the Coilovers its just the cream on the pie!

The rolling mass of the 19" rims would be a hinderance to performance, rather than assisting. Acceleration would be a dog, no doubt.

But on the other side of the coin, would look really good !

Hey guys, i need some opinions. My shocks are dead... and i wanna lower the car... Pedders just quoted me $980 for parts alone ($1385 fitted aligned and balanced) for bilstein shocks and pedders sports ryder springs; else $3100 fitted for bilstein coilovers.

When i told the guy that other people are using KW's, he told me that they're japanese and not meant for a euro car.... "chalk and cheese" told him i disagree... but yes... would like others opinions, as to me, shocks and springs are what they are... springs have different rates, shocks different dampness settings, etc. so i don't understand wtf this fuss about euro and jap is?

Anyways; am more likely looking at getting G4 coilovers from justjap with their street springs setup.... $999+200 delivered - designed for people who want a daily driver and ocassional track days... i sorta like to push cars around corners, so i think these shall be ideal for me.

              Opinions please

thats why you shouldnt go to pedders. theyre mostly clueless and seem to charge for the privilege. KW is not a jap company.

Key is just do your research before laying down your cash. Cos not all dampers are created equally.

Yeah... well the G4's have a 2 year replacement warranty, and they're rebuildable... seems like an alright deal to me.

                  FRONT SPRING RATE: 8.5 kg/mm

                  REAR SPRING RATE: 4.1 kg/mm

with dampners adjustable in 24 ways... Dunno how that compares to KWs

google "g4 shock collapse" i think it is or something, theres heaps of pics etc on some forum how 3-4 cars they suspension snapped/collapsed on the car on the road and also on track ... good pricing but you do get what you pay for!

if you dont or cant afford coilovers, go for the other option of shock/spring combo.. kw, h&r, bilstein etc! do it right the first time otherwise you MIGHT regret it! ..

your choice in the end though!
                    What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

I can't seem to find much in teh way of reviews. Pulsar forum has a few people saying they're good, others saying that the seals on the rear went = oil everywhere. I want to read as many reviews as possible before deciding if it's worth throwing $$$ at.

IMO your going to the wrong place (albeit a suspension place), go and find a VW specialist mechanic and ask him for some opinions on coilovers.

They are either getting them confused with something else or have no idea about suspension.

I'd say that the guy at pedders didn't really know what he was talking about, seeing as instead of arguing a point with craftmanship issues, he told me that i need euro parts for a euro car, not japanese parts... g4's are from taiwan but...

I might settle for the cheaper alternative with KYB shocks and "low" (30mm) king springs, to stiffen the suspension, and then a whiteline anti-sway bar.
