Will be interesting to see what car comes next out of this.
Glad you are okay though mate and if nothing else, this stands as a testament to the build quality and safety of these cars.

true, sorry to hear trent. We never got to that track day, I'm eyeing off doing this, don't laugh to hard but it's gotta be awesome fun, aleit at a much slower pace and lower price
We should all reflect on the silly moments we have as to not end with a similar experience, or worse.
Chin up champ.

I'm really sad to read this Trent. Your car was awesome! But you are alright which is the most important thing. Your car and this thread has been and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me in what I am doing to my car. Best wishes.
Thanks everyone for the support and kind words. Also thanks for the texts and PMs that people also have sent.
Good to see the Volvo laughter and hatred isn't just confined to my family, colleagues and other friends. Just the inspiration I need to do something different.
But as I said earlier, decisions are going to be a while off yet. There's the Golf R coming, the new Polo GTI is coming, there's an option to buy a MkV Golf GTI for a good price. So many options, however the one thing I'm disinclined to do is the the .:R thing again as it would have to be getting it back to the same state as what number 44 was. If money was no option though I'd have another one in a minute (with all the bells and whistles of course).
Cheers,
Trent
Edit: Oh and for those wondering, currently I am enjoying pride of Mitsubishi's Australian made fleet, the 1995 TS Magna GLX. 2.6L of Astron carbie fed grunt. Who loves having no aircon, and less than 90kW of power. On the plus side I have the same fuel economy to keep me company...

Hey, that's the same motor my 85 Sigma had!! Its greatest moment was overtaking my sister's Camry going up the Moonbi ranges

At least the aircon worked
Who still sells a passenger car in 1995 with a carbie? Mitsubishi that's who! No wonder they got into so much financial trouble. Oh and the car doesn't have air con at all. It has power steering though. Such wonderous technology.
Cheers,
Trent
