Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Strange indicator problem

I fitted some GTi style rear lights to my Golf last night - with no apparent issues. Today though, the indicators do not work at all! They're totally dead.

Strange thing being - the hazards are working fine? That would immediately rule out the fuse to me, or the bulbs as being the issue. Anyone know what the problem could be? I'm not a great believer in coincidence, so can't imagine the indicator stalk just stopped working as I happened to fit new rear lights.

Any help would be appreciated - the wife is going to castrate me for leaving her without a car!

Fixed this tonight - took the hazard switch apart and soaked it in contact cleaner. Started working again!

Came out this morning and its stopped working again! Bit of messing with the hazard switch and they worked - and then stopped again. So I think its safe to say that this kind of behaviour is caused by the hazard switch. Should have a new one this arvo.
