Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MkIV 2.slow Daily

I have a thread over at VWGolf.net.au of my car, it's a very slow build, generally due to funds, and although I have been around here for a while I have only just started becoming active here. So I thought I would throw up a condensed version of where I'm at so far.

So as always we start of a photo at stock, mainly because I love being able to flick between before and after shots to see what's been done:

She was a 4x4 with some pretty nice hubcaps... all I had done by this point is have tint put on the windows.

Finally, got some wheels, and at the time I thought this looked the dogs, looking back now I can thoroughly understand why it's always better to lower first, then wheels. But that's what this game is all about right... learning.

Finally felt gravity pull me to the ground when I could finally afford a set of coils for her.

Then the infamous clutch pedal clip broke, scared the hell out of me thinking it was a much more serious problem, luckily there was a pedal in stock at VW, brought it, and installed it. Which was a **** job, and afterwards my cruise never worked which I have read recently may be due to one of the cables not being re-installed correctly.

The tow truck driver was a good bloke, knew how to have a laugh which was good. Always makes that painful drive home a little easier.

Which brings us up to the present day, I haven't really done anything else to the car by here but when I parked outside Hyde Park I couldn't help but take some photos, it just looked, pretty good in my eyes.

Not featured - The lovely time my passenger window regulators failed... and more recently when my driver side window regulators failed. I can only think at least they are done now.

To be continued... although slowly. Like my car.

    2.slow FTW.
With the cruise not working, did you put the black plastic cover back on the pedal? It would have come off when it broke.
    I had that same problem

Mind putting up wheel width and offset, also tyre size? Would like to add it to the wheel library

From memory I did but might have to have a better look as might have missed it out.
      Wheel offset etc.

      Car: VW Golf 2.0
      Wheels: Racinghart (can't remember model)
      Front: 18x7.5 ET.35 (after 10mm spacers) 215/40/18
      Rear: 18x7.5 ET.27.5 (after 17.5mm spacer) 215/40/18
      Fenders Rolled: No
      Fenders Pulled: No
      Camber: None/standard
      Suspension: KW V1

That's in the last 2 photos those offsets before that it was most likely still et45 all round, which tucked a little bit more. With spacers they sit just flush with the inside of the fender lips.
