Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

When replacing a aircon pump in a mk4 gti, how similar does the pump model have to be?

The last letter is a modification letter so different and revised editions. Without knowing exactly what thoses revisions are it would be hard to say if it should work but generally it should be ok. ECS says that part number has been superseeded to a k revision so should be sweet. But as always make sure.

Mine was an A revision pump (1999 build), I emailed ECS and they said that to use the latest revision pump I'd need to change the belt and condenser as well (different pulley/pipe connections?). As Back Door says, best to check with them first.
