  • Quick question..

This a typical NEWBIE question!! SORRY
My golf IV 2000 GL has central locking and standard immoboliser, but does it has a factory alarm? also i dont have a key remote and wondering if i am able to program a new one to open the car via remote. The whole "openeing with a key" really just wont do anymore!!
    Cheers in advance

No it doesnt have an alarm. If you want a decent alarm with keyless entry, black wires, dual stage shock sensors etc etc, shoot me a PM.

      GL deadlocking

      Hi All,

What is the go with the deadlocking of the door locks?

Like mikk@, I have a MK4 GL and have read in the manual that the central locking has a deadlock function that activates with the key (No remote locking here either) and illuminates the small LED by the locking button on the drivers door. Mine lights up only after turning the key 2 or 3 times....is this usual or should it deadlock each time you lock it?

Mine does the same. I have a problem with the central locking in my car, apparently the module on the drivers side has had it.... but it will work occasionly. I believe the light is to indicate the immobiliser has been activated..
Sometimes the drivers side lock will work, but I mostly have to lock from the passenger side to get all doors to lock... and then turn the key three times usually to get the immobiliser light to flash. (all that said my car is worth the trouble)
