  • MK4 Motors?

Now the mk1 rally car is gone, time to look for another project!! What motors come out in the mk4? I would ideally like twin cam, but i see there is no twin cam 2L. Would be chasing around 200hp.

I see the coil over kits and everything is quite cheap for the mk4, how strong are the gearboxes?

Also anyone know where the kit car guards can be sourced from, it appears bildon motorsport dont do them anymore.

    cheers
    -Jamie

GTi with the 1.8T is the way to go. Its twin cam 20 valve. Gearboxes in the GTi are quite strong too. Clutches seem to be the weakpoint on those cars. Upgraded aftermarket clutch is the way to go.

After hours of stuffing about reading homoligation papers it looks like the TDi is possibly the easiest/cheapest option. The papers have been appended to allow 4 door versions, and from what i can tell from the poorly scanned papers most of the parts are not too far off standard.

Any idea what a half cut would be worth??

Im hopefully off to look at mk4 being wrecked on sunday

VW Motorsport in the UK can get most of the kit car parts still. They've helped me out with a few bits and bob's for the R. Ask for Mark Farmer when you ring he is very helpful.

No TDI MKIV's were sold in Aus by Volkswagen.
