You say South or East, but then list location as Quakers Hill.

      Exoticars in North Parramatta.

      Seb in Girraween.

      Camden GTI down South.

There's a place in Alexandria on O'Riordan St (right near Green Square Station) that may be worth a look too if you're considering East.
      Nothing to see here...

Just re genuine VW parts. Are the listed shops cheaper to buy genuine parts then say Barlow world? Or are parts the same price and they are just an alternative to VW for servicing?

Camden GTI, Good value labour, plus has 2nd hand parts if it's something that's not needing to be brand new, they'll look to save you money where they can. Good value.

I work a few doors down from them, I've never heard any feedback from anyone on the forums, or anything about them at all, and they look a bit expensive, and seem to deal mostly in shiny Mercs, so I've stayed away so far. But if anyone can give me some positive information about them, I might check them out. It would be SO much easier having a mechanic just down the road! But I have a feeling they'd be bumping up the prices a bit. Definitely happy to hear otherwise though....

Genuine is genuine & that's that. You can't get 'GENUINE' parts from anywhere other than an actual VW dealer, except if you ask the people doing the labour on your car to order genuine, they can, and they can get it a little bit cheaper, but they will add that back on before giving 'their' parts price to you anyway, (one place I spoke to was adding anywhere from 40-70% on top for their aftermarket parts).

What you want, and what I dare say MOST people on these forums are doing, is getting QUALITY european aftermarket parts, (so much cheaper + often the choice of brand that supplied VW originally) from a well known euro parts distributor like 'HSY' + 'Imparts' etc.

The trick with these places is that they are only supposed to workshops/mechanics, and not to the public, this is why they are so much cheaper. Once you find your desired new mechanic/workshop, try to order the parts yourself & get them to fit them, that will be the cheapest method by far.

Let me know how you go, I'd love to know a 'good value' workshop near me/my work in Alexandria, someone who I can trust to not rip me off & only get work done I actually NEED! Even if it's just for the small things, as I'm currently using Camden GTI for the big things (engine swap).

Any other questions you have about this stuff, feel free to ask me, I'm happy to work with you to get some more thorough info on workshops in this area of Sydney, so many workshops, but not enough info on them. Talk soon..

That's demonstrably incorrect. Take the front rotors for my R32 brake conversion as an example, VW dealerships in Sydney wanted $600+ per front rotor last time I purchased - but I got two rotors shipped from the US (and they're a genuine part) for $500 for BOTH.

Another example - coil packs for a V6 4Motion engine are $120 a pair from an Australian VW dealership, or $120 for six delivered from the US (and again, they're genuine).

I can get you (or anyone who wants it) genuine (VW branded) and/or OEM manufacturer (same part, no VW logo) a damned site cheaper than you'll see from any dealership. Given that for a Mk4 warranty is almost certainly not a factor at all, there's no reason to pay dealership prices.

im with Manaz, can get genuine parts heaps cheaper then dealers. even at trade prices and dealers trying to price match I couldnt get anywhere near the other companies even after shipping.
few places that do genuine parts as well as top quality after market goods

My apologies guys, I think my words came accross incorrectly, when I said: "..You can't get 'GENUINE' parts from anywhere other than an actual VW dealer.." I assumed he meant from within Australia, and when I said about adding a % on top, I meant the mechanics ordering in the parts for you (from a cheap supplier), not ordering from the supplier yourself. I also acknowledged that OEM, non VW branded, parts were available, I just worded it poorly: "(so much cheaper + often the choice of brand that supplied VW originally)".

Sorry for the poor explanations, I basically meant (from my experience so far):

"Ordering within Australia, Genuine is too expensive (from a dealership), and a reputable euro parts supplier/distributor will have quality European brands, some even exact OEM replacement, at WAY cheaper prices than what a VW dealership will charge you."

I'm just giving my experience so far, and I'm sure you guys have had more & better experiences than me it seems. I'm always keen to learn more, and am happy to take any info coming my way Manaz + Dylan!

Love to know more, talk soon.

I am within Australia, and I can help to get genuine or OEM-manufacturer parts cheaper than the stealerships will come close to.

                        Sounds good to me Manaz!!

So... Should we only hassle you for the big jobs? Or are small things ok? Like: "an antenna base & a few door lock bolts" etc?

Anything we should gauge the prices off? For example, I work for the Australian HQ for clothing companies like: Lee, Wrangler, The North Face, Ben Sherman, Reebok, etc, etc, and I can get you what ends up being almost always 65% off retail, so 1/3 the retail price... of anything we sell in Australia...

Check pricing at ECSTuning.com, use that as a guideline.

On O'Riordan St? Literally walking past true alliance as I write this...

Hahaha, no way!!! PS - Don't take what's in the 'outlet' as an indication of what I can get you, that is just our leftover stock, I can get you anything our brands sell.

What are you doing in the 'hood? do you work around here?? I'm looking for a local mechanic I can trust to give me honest advice.

Thanks for that, I was actually going to ask if I could use something like ECSTuning as a guide. So, small orders? I'll completely understand if small orders aren't worth your time. Just give me an indication like: "orders should be over $100", or something like that.

                            Thanks mate!!

I work about 15 mins walk from Green Square Station.

Bigger orders are better, as the discounts I can obtain outweigh the cost of freight. Otherwise, I generally try to pool smaller orders together to make the freight costs much more affordable (for what it's worth, goodfella, dyldo and I source straight from ECS as a bit of a "community service" at present, we've run group buys that have been worth $20k plus in the past...).
