  • Bora 4Motion Fuel question

    Hi guys,

just a question about how many Kms people with Bora 4motion are getting per full tank ..
havent had mine for too long .. and im getting about 290 - 300km's per tank city driving only ..
i know what i signed up for when i got the VR .. but just wanted to see if my car is using too much so i could diagnose ..

    thanks

That would equate to 20.67L/100km if you used up the whole 62L tank, which obviously you don't do. If you fill up as soon as the fuel light comes on that'd be 54L so that's around 18L/100km.. Giving us your L/100km reading would be a better indicator.

At the moment with mainly freeway driving but some traffic I'm getting 10.5L/100km and about 500km each tank. When I was only driving to the train station and back in slight stop/start traffic I was averaging 13L/100km.

Yours seems a bit high compared to mine.

    EDIT: Read this thread

EDIT 2: Just saw you already posted in that thread.

i'll scan for codes as soon as i get home and update ..
usually for the short drives that i do it runs about 12-14l/100km and thats me taking it easy ..

I average 12-15L/100km in suburban traffic. I can get low 8s or even 7s on the highway, and 15+ in bad suburban traffic.

Easy way to tell how many litres/100km you're really using - fill the tank, zero the trip-meter. Then next time you fill up, take note of how much fuel it takes to fill it, take the trip meter reading, and work out your L/100km from that.
        Nothing to see here...

just filled up today .. filled 58L .. had 296km's .. which means that im averaging 19.5 L /100 Km's . . then again in the last week i did give it the boot a few times a bit aggressively as well so i'll give it another go and report back ..
i was averaging about 9.8 - 10L /100km'ds in town .. traffic was not horrible .. i reset my trip computer after i filled up and that's what i've been getting so far .. going to get codes now ..

If I let mine run down until the warning light comes on I will be pretty close to exactly 500kms

could that cause an issue with fuel consumption ?? im not sure about this fault . .

EDIT : just cleared codes .. started the car for a min revved it a few times .. scanned again .. no fault codes anymore .. wierd ..

i do notice a noise of suction from the engine bay when i open the throttle quickly .. is that just intake noise ? any idea ?

Not really, just regular driving all over Canberra and the occasional trip to one of the towns nearby (which I guess is pretty close to highway driving). My work involves about 500-800kms a week.

Interesting - I read something about this recently, let me drag it up...

Here it is - link to ECSTuning.

Note that they say fuel efficiency improves when this is fixed...

fair enough .. my parent live in canberra .. i do get better efficiency there .. not as mountainous as Newcastle

I tend to get around 575kms out of mine til the fuel light comes on. Normally around 85 percent of that is highway driving. Average over the last 3500kms is spot on 10l/100 according to the display.

been getting about 430 - 500 km's to the tank .. mind you i made no changes to the car except for deleting the codes that i had ..
will need to check again to see if i still have them ..
