What is exactly happening with the stalk?Comment

go over a bumb,its clicks,,use the stalk,then after it continues to do that click sound.although click originates from hazard switch which is the blinker relay... if you play with the stalk and move very slightly,the relay goes spaz and clicks like mad... so must be stalk not relay????Comment

Have you checked the connection to the hazard light switch by removing the drink holder and reaching in through the back? Mine has come loose on two occasions, giving those same symptoms.Comment

You should probably try to replace the Indicator controller (Is part of the hazard button/housing) first.
These go on A3s/S3s all the time and I'm pretty sure its the same part - The actual indicator stalk doesn't do anything. ??
I've got one I ordered from VagpartsUK I haven't gotten around to installing yet. Took 7days to get to me.
