Seat belt stuck

hey guys just saying hi to everyone, i've come from ozaudi had a audi 80 2.3 and have now moved to a jazz blue 1.8 n/a 99.

i'm having some problems with my rear seat belt, the middle one keeps locking up, anyway to fix it? or does it need replacing?

I think I know wich car your talking about Did it happen to be sitting behind my car just 2 days ago when I was up on the hoist?

It sounds like a spring has come loose inside that should release the locking mechanism. I haven't pulled one apart before. Does it look like a sealed unit?

but you've got a real nice car there man, seen all the mods when it was up on the hoist. i was hoping james would mix them up and give me the keys to yours.

in regards to the seatbelt its inside the seat, its the middle one, i cant get to it unfortunately. will just have no1 sit in the middle then i guess.

I'm not sure if mine are different but if you grab the base of the seat from the front and life it come up very easily and then fold forward flush with the front seats. You should then be able to get to it easily. I'm going to swing by on monday so I'll show you then.

ye i know about actually folding them down, but the seat belt goes inside of the seat, at the top part, it slides into the back of the seat and is actually inside of it, so i think you'd need to cut open the seat.

not that many jazzy's around but i've seen 2 so far with exactly the same wheels as mine and yet to see a 1.8.

Ahhh - I just realised your a customer of Jame's. I thought you were someone else who works there with him. Your's looks to be in great shape. You definetly have a lot less stone chips on the front than me - I had my eye on your bonnet. It looks very tidy. I have seen one other Jazz gti and 1 sport and 1 1.8.

I think I know what your talking about - where the seatbelt retracts into the top of the seat?

I'll check it out when I go down stairs. You shouldn't have to cut into the back of the seat. There will be another way to get at it. I might ask a mate who works for VW.

its pretty tidy in regards to chips and dents, but the person who had it before hand must have not known what bird cr*p will do to your cars paint, so i've got a couple of stained spots which is annoying.

will need to give it a good detail, or get it done by pro to clean it all up.
