  • More burbleness from the 24v VR6 or R32 exhaust

    Howdy dubbers

I have had a stock Mk4 R32 exhaust (flapper open) on my 24v VR6 exhaust for about a year or so and am a bit "bored" with the sound. I don't want more rasp, i don't want it louder necessarily, but i definitely want more burble and rumble.

I have changed the pancake section to a normal section (2.5"?) and have the stock manifold and cat. But how can i get more nastiness?

Downpipes. Although give no hp gains, they do give a bit more out of the engine in terms of sound. But they do make them pretty raspy.

so by downpipes, you're talking about post extractors but pre cat?

your car will have exhaust mani and a down pipe, replace them with extractors (aka headers) for a lot more sound

          thanks pete

i'm told the exhaust setup on the 24v vr6 can yield up to a 30% gain on the ported head work from CNC, and similarly good results from good zorst all the way from the exhaust ports,so a good header and zorst system would be mad.

I think supersprint can do a RHD setup but who else does them?

replace the cat and go for new cams give a great burble on idle plus more power, if yours is a 2002 bde engine you'll notice a big difference at the high end with the vvt

Can anyone confirm if these cams can be bought from Audi. Are they are genuine part from the 3.2 TT motor?
Has anyone ever quoted them from Audi parts?

Not that I know of I dont think that CAM profile was ever OEM and am pretty sure from memory that TT 3.2, the R32, and 2.8L 24v all share the same cam.

they have been working fine in my 2.8 for >2 years so buy an OEM one from a TT or R32 you'll probably end up with what you already have

Thanks for info I've also just double checked with parts at VW and Audi. Both camshaft identical in 2.8 and 3.2

Also since you have been using them would you recommend buying a set??

Do you install these cams without any software upgrades?
PM if you are looking for: R32 rear sway bar; R32 suspension springs; Euro Headlight switches

But you can get even better performance gains if you have them AND software that knows how to take advantage of them.

Seriously considering a set of the TT cams and a Custom-Code tune...
