Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bora 4motion epc & esp light is up!

Hey everyone! In desperate need of help here. Last night while driving home in the crazy wet weather, my engine started shaking and power was lost. Obviously it wasn't firing in sync.
Does anyone know or have had a problem like this and had the EPC along with their traction control light showing up on the dash?

    Thanks.

Without a doubt you need to get the codes read with a scan tool. VCDS or something.

Could be a coilpack or even the MAF.

    Have you tried it today?

Yeah i've tried it today Gavin and its the same deal. I disconnected the MAF and started it. Same problem. It could be the MAF. Could water have gotten in?

My 4mo did this when i first bought it and it was the MAF and the crack pipe (i think its called) had a split in it.
replaced it and had the codes cleared and its been good.

Have it scanned, so much better than guessing. I started a thread of people VCDS leads who will scan for beer. It's a sticky somewhere.

Just had the car fixed today. It was the coil packs.
