Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Spare 18" rims - what to do..what to do....

So here's the dilemma, I received an extra set of rims with the Bora when I purchased it. Sounds good except for they're not my taste. I much prefer the rims the car already has on. These spare rims are 18" and will fit the Bora but they're in pretty average condition. See image below.

So, I'm thinking of restoring and painting them to sell but I'm not sure which colour to do. Here's a bit of a poll to see what would be the best colour for selling them. What are your thoughts guys?

There's value in the exercise of painting them. I'm not expecting to "make money" by painting them. They are 18" x 8" and they fit my Mk IV Bora so I take it they're 5 x 100 stud pattern.

Well, after a massive showing in the poll, I've decided to go with a metallic charcoal colour. I've just put the first coat one of the wheels as a test and I'm quite happy with the colour. All things going well, I'll have them painted by the weekend.

They should have the specs stamped on them too - something like 18x8 ET35 or similar.

              PS They look great painted!
