Instrument lights...missing?

Are there supposed to be lights behind the aircon adjuster, vents, etc. The 3 round dials ? And the stereo , also...

Because mine are all dark at night, you don't know what to do if you want to turn up the heater or so ...

Instrument lights

Hi,

Yes the dials and buttons are supposed to be illuminated. The stereo face lights up as well.

How they are lit up...no idea

All fuses are good... I am OK to change the globes behind the instruments, but then the stereo lights puzzle me, as you don't change those usually...

It is completely dark apart from the dash and the red emergency indicator to the left.

so the stereo face doesn't light up either but the stereo does work? or is it some other light for the stereo?

that is strange. if the stereo didnt work then I would guess that section was overloaded but then the stereo and instrument panels are on diff circuits and the fuses would have to be stronger than spec. considering they're not blown.

hmmm...are the globes themselves blown?

Everything works fine, but there's no lights.

The "aux" fuse is common for the cigarette lighter, stereo, etc. And it is good as the stereo works and I have also checked all fuses.

It is weird that the stereo has no lights, as are the instruments... I need to open it up and look at the bulbs; anyone with instructions by any chance so I don't rediscover the wheel ? ( I have opened numerous cars as I installed plenty of head units , but each and every seems to be different ).

is there a dimmer type switch as there is for the instruments? have you tried playing around with the dimmer for a bit?

If there's another dimmer, I have no idea where... There is a main dimmer to the right of the steering wheel for all of them, but that does nothing but dimming the working lights...

I have the same problem. I just belt the side of the console and they come on again.

i just checked my car (which i've had less than a week) the dimmer does controll all those lights. maybe there is a problem wth the connection between the dimmer and that run of lights but not the instruments which are on a different run. anyway i really don't know just throwing things out there. if someone had a workshop manual with wiring diagram that would help. i almost bought one today for $67.

Mate sound like you have a H/lamp switch fault for sure. There is a trick to changing it too. Press the switch in and turn at the same time. Then pull towards you and she should come adrift. The feed for the illum in the system is Blue/grey and mate. The switch is very common fault.

any luck with this? i've had the same problem, and just interested to see if its worth having a look at, as I'm very lazy at the moment.
