  • Euro Plates in SA

Are there any other VW drivers that are disappointed by the fact South Australia is one of the only states that doesn't offer Euro style number plates. Every time I go to NSW or Queensland I see these plates and get really frustrated they are not offered here. I see someone in the ACT has a petition with 80 signatures. Is it worth me starting one? Does anyone else in SA feel the same?

Yeah I'm kinda pee'd off we dont have them in SA either, I'd be keen on a set if they were available! Our rego plate system over here kinda sucks and its bloody expensive aswell

I would sign a petition if one was started, but I dont think you would get very far TBH :-\

yher typical adelaide being behind the times with pretty much everything...

was at transport sa the other day and they seem to waste their time with crappy designed number plates promoting sa as being the defence state or some garbage, i mean who would actually put those things on tehir car....

if they came out here in sa id definitely get a set, now its just teh waiting game

From memory, the ACT petition got fobbed off by some ministers department with some BS excuse saying that we already had a good range of plate styles to choose from but there may or may not be considerations in the future.

Move to WA mate, we have the best range of plates!! you can have up to 9 letters on a polycarbonate plate for $450 or up to 7 on a normal metal plate. and there are 7 or 8 colours to choose from. There are euro plates as well but they are just too expensive.

yher i saw a black monaro in the norwood area, it had black poly carbonate plates (looked like black perspex) with white lettering, looked professionally done...

couldnt have been legal, looked bloody good tho...

Email address for new SA plates

I have contacted the Product Marketing Department for the Department for Transport, Energy & Infrastructure. They told me the Euro plates should be available by the end of this year. I find it hard to believe but time will tell. The more people that contact them the more chance it will happen. Email DTEIlate Enquiries [dtei.plateenquiries@saugov.sa.gov.au] and let them know you are interested. It will be interesting if you get the same response I did.

Here's the response they gave me earlier this year. I'm still waiting...

Thank you for your email internet enquiry regarding Euro plates. This is a new product that we have under development, however we are unable to provide you with a release date as our Department is undergoing the introduction of new systems which is inhibiting any release of new products. We anticipate more information available towards the end of 2007.

Hoping this has been of assistance.
