I'm actualy looking at buying a Bora as the main family car so I'll be keeping the GTI.
I've test driven a few now and think the Bora is a great car. Brilliant accomodation.
One VR6 I drove was lowered and had an X force rear section/cat back(not sure) and sounded awsome, but seemed to be missing alot of bottom end torque. Still drove wonderfully.
I drove it in the wet, and I can honestly say(sorry 4 motion owners) that I didn't feel any advantage.
On the same bit of road my GTI didn't feel disadvantaged at all, but I have mine well set up in terms of suspension and brakes(but so did he)
The GTI offers more driveable torque, but if you need that awsome VR6 roar then go for it.
VR6 will be dearer to service and run also.
So to your question, "Would I regret selling my car for a vr6?"
Yes, yes you would.
Even if you did buy a Bora, you'll be happy, but if you love your GTI then stick with it.MK4 GTI: Custom Code Stage 2, K03S, 42DD exhaust, Bilsteins, whiteline F&R, 312mm brakes
MK6 GTI: MY13, DSG , very stock

Well since the stock VR6 has decent power it definitely needs the 4motion. I drove around with my AWD disabled for a week and had so much torque steer and wheel spin in the wet. On the long weekend I enjoyed a long drive along the Great Ocean Road in the wet.. fun!Originally posted by VR6man View PostI drove it in the wet, and I can honestly say(sorry 4 motion owners) that I didn't feel any advantage.
But I agree with whoever said to buy a B5 S4. Yum.
