Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It's piss poor if I'm honest. Because as far as I'm concerned if it is a requirement of a car for it to be serviced it should. And it should be included in the price for the service. It just sucks because they could well just say that they did it, and there's no real way of seeing if they did

Alrighties, so after testing my haldex yesterday it is definitely not engaging the rears
Sorry I didn't get back to you Gavin, I had to wait till late yesterday afternoon to test it.

So hopefully tomorrow arvo I will be able to take it in to Mike Weber prestige and performance for him to diagnose if it's the computer, pump, diff, or whatever and then quote me for a fix etc. and then have her booked in

Thanks for all the help over the past couple days guys. Plenty of really good information
Hopefully I'll see some of you around at meets and what not!

SO, I took my beauty into Mike at Prestige and Performance today. As soon as he had a look at the Haldex he worked out the pump wasn't working at all and that this would be the cause (most likely).
He gave me a reasonable quote for labor and an oil and filter change and told me that the pump (actual part) is $1200 in Aus!
So he is gonna make a call or two over the next day or so and see if he can get it cheaper from America for me (awesome bloke for actually bothering to shop round for me)

As my dad is actually in America on business currently does anyone know if he would be able to pick one up on the cheap from?
            And roughly how much?

try OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning
The shipping is a bit exxy but the service is great

              Here it is:

If you get it sent to your dad in the US i dont think the shipping will be too exxy. You can get the service kit with the wrench from them too

Common haldex problems, you may be missing or have a failed orange 5 amp fuse that actually actvates the electrics for DSC ESP and Haldex essentially making your car work as a front wheel drive.
Number 17 from memory, (!) <----- A logo like that is in place of where the fuse should be

Your filter can be so gunked up that there isn't adequate circulation and pump burns out.

Or my personal favourite, the cable connecting the controller to the main harness is loose, (SUPER COMMON).

Might save you some dollars, all the best.

Hmmmmm the ABS and ESP are definitely still working, so I don't think it's the fuse.
Could be that the filter is super dirty, but I'll just replace it anyways.
Yeah ECS has the same price as Mike said he would be able to get it for.
                  Definitely food for thought.

                  Thanks guys
