  • Intermittent wiper problem with Mk IV Bora

Well the rains have finally started out this way and today I finally had to use the wipers in earnest.
Pull down for a quick sweep works, position 1 and wipers sweep once and thats it, up to pos 2 and wipers stay on slow sweep and pos 3 they go faster.
playing around with the intermittent speed switch will get the wipers to sweep once but if I leave it they do nothing else, so essentially useless.
    Any help please.

Does your Bora have rain sensing wipers? I thought some did, but may have only been the R32.

The V6's had the rain sensing wipers. The give away is the big black mounting base on the windscreen.

you should be able to sprinkle water on it with the wiper in the intermittent position and it should wipe.

With the rain sensing wipers the adjustable thing on the stalk is more of a sensitivity thing.

Sometimes though it just doesn't work and the sensor is the issue.

If that's the case you can replace one relay under the dash and turn it into the usual intermittent kind of wipers.

See this thread for the part numbers.

          Sweet, thanks

I seem to remember when I bought the car from Dub Toffee that there might be a spare sensor in with all the other goodies he threw in with the car, along with a new interior rear vision mirror, I might have to fish that bag of goodies out and have a search.
          Again thanks for the reply
