The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Engine sensor broken on a 99' Bora V5 Highline need help please

Hey guys i have sold my bora in Australia and have moved over to germany (the home of Volkswagens!) as my girlfriend lives here. I like the boras alot so i was looking around for one and have found a nice one here (the link is bellow let hope it works!) but the is something wrong with one of the sensors because it doesn't want to idle. He says if you don't have your foot on the pedal it will cut out but you can start it again in a couple of minutes. Could it be a sensor or a fuse? Has anyone herd about this problem before? really hope you guys can help me out. Cheers Nick

Sounds like a sensor. Getting it diagnosed shouldn't be an issue with VAG-COM/VCDS/etc.
    Nothing to see here...

+1 for vcds scan. Could be a bad airleak?

Thanks alot guys, helped me alot! Im going to check it out hopefully this saturday and i will report back to you with the news! When i take it for a test drive im going to drop into the nearest Volkswagen dealership and get them to run a diagnostic. Hoping its not a air leak as in head gasket. What do you mean by an air mass metre? Does it have one and they fail and need replacing? Sorry lads. Thanks again. Nick

if that highline v5 was under 4 grand AUD, i'm sure u could find a sweet 4 motion for 5 grand or less ?

also, re the air mass meter, see:

Thats what i thought but the 4motions are different to in australia, i can only find VW Bora 1.9 TDI 4Motion Highline. Yes they are all wheel drive but the only have 110kw the same as the V5 Highline. Ahh well ill keep looking for maybe a GTI golf
