  • MK 4 1.6 service help?

hey guys I've owned my 1.6 MK 4 golf for a lil over 4 months and I have read through the service history and since my car has done just over 129K kms i was wondering what should be done at the mileage? and and tips on what oils and coolants? According to the service book it hasn't been serviced since 88K kms but the car yard i bought it from said they serviced it but not been logged. Any help is much appreciated!

    cheers Anthony

Rather do a full service on it, eg belts, tensioners, all filters
then you know its all done and safe for another 10000 km's

Did the 88K service list belts ? If not get them done asap. The car yard would have done the least possible, probably just oil and filter change.
Belts, water pump, tensioner are usually seen as 4 year items.

Go over the log book and compare to the servicing schedule, work out what has been missed and bring it up to date.

The dealer would have done almost nothing.

Brand new car I do the following.
All fluids besides gearbox unless it needs it.

        All filters.

And spark plugs for good measure.

Obviously a general check over too

Mate you can get the full timing belt kit from vw, actually some original belts are Dayco Euro belts from new and Dayco now do replacement kits, they are getting pretty heavy into that now, a very good friend of mines works for Burson and fills me in with that. Change the water pump, its a no brainer, the impellar at those ks will be starting to crack and will be destined to fail. Check your temp sensor, if its black change it for green one. As some may say on here find somewhere that is no $%^& servicing. They will help you out. Especially if they have many years with the product, it does help as they know the pitfalls and can steer you away from them.
